What is paranasal augmentation?
Also known in Korea as noblesse surgery, it adds volume and lift where the nostrils meet the cheeks and the area is deeply hollow.
The deep lines on either side of the mouth are called nasolabial folds, or smile lines. The area beside the nostrils, where these lines begin, is what paranasal augmentation treats.

Results and recovery vary from person to person. The main risks and side effects are:

- Asymmetry, or a result that differs from what you pictured
- Scarring (when an incision is made)
- Numbness or changes in sensation (often temporary)

Three ways to treat the area beside the nostrils

Implant insertion
Implants are placed on both sides of the nostrils to lift the hollows.
Materials include silicone, Gore-Tex and Medpor (artificial bone). The surgery is done through an incision inside the mouth.

Fat transfer
Fat taken from your abdomen or thighs is grafted beside the nostrils. An advantage is that it uses your own tissue.
Some of the grafted fat may be absorbed, so 2–3 additional grafts may be needed.

Hyaluronic acid
It is an injection only, and a major advantage is that you can return to daily life right after treatment. There is almost no downtime.
How long the effect lasts depends on the type of hyaluronic acid used.
