Nose Elevation

A higher bridge and tip for a more defined profile

This surgery may suit you if your tip is nicely shaped but your bridge lacks height, or if your whole nose sits low.

We add height to the bridge and tip with an implant or your own cartilage, for more defined, refined features. Results vary from person to person.

Who it is for

  • Your bridge is low
  • Your whole nose lacks height
  • You want more defined features
  • You want a cleaner profile line

What is a low nose?

A low nose can make the face look larger or flatter.

Grafting an implant or your own tissue onto a low bridge can give your features more definition and refinement. If both the bridge and tip are low, we also use septal or ear cartilage to lift the tip.

How the surgery is done

The bridge is raised with an implant or your own rib cartilage.

The tip is made of soft tissue, so the technique depends on your nose. We use septal, ear or rib cartilage, whichever suits you, to create a natural, attractive tip.

Risks and side effects

Results and recovery vary from person to person. The main risks and side effects are:

  • Swelling and bruising after surgery
  • Infection or inflammation
  • Asymmetry, or a result that differs from what you pictured
  • An implant shifting, showing through or becoming exposed (when an implant is used)
  • Pain or a scar where rib cartilage was taken (when rib cartilage is used)
  • Contracture (tissue hardens and the nose shrinks)

If anything concerns you, you can still reach us on WhatsApp after you fly home.

Materials we use

Materials chosen to suit your nose and skin

In the diagram, the dotted pink line shows where the implant sits in the bridge.

Implants

  • Silicone or Gore-Tex

An implant placed in the bridge to add height.

We decide between silicone and Gore-Tex after looking at your nose and skin.

Your own tissue (cartilage)

Because it comes from your own body, it helps keep inflammation and similar problems in check.

  • Septal cartilage

The cartilage that divides the inside of your nose into left and right. It is used to raise the tip, for example when both the bridge and tip are low.

  • Ear cartilage

Cartilage taken from the ear. It is used to give the tip a natural shape.

    Non-Implant Rhinoplasty
  • Your own rib cartilage

Rib cartilage taken from your chest. It is used to raise the bridge, and sometimes the tip, depending on your nose.

WHY KOKO

Why patients choose KOKO for Nose Elevation

  1. 01

    Balance built on angles

We assess the angle between your tip and forehead precisely, then create a nose in balance with your face.

  2. 02

A closed technique for a low bridge

If only your bridge is low, surgery can also be done with a closed technique, so scars are less noticeable.

  3. 03

A clinic built around the nose

KOKO Plastic Surgery opened in 2001 as the first clinic in Apgujeong specializing in nose surgery. We have performed nose surgery for 25 years.

  4. 04

Dr. Cho, from consultation to surgery

Dr. Cho Bae-jung, our representative director, is a board-certified plastic surgeon with 25 years of experience. He handles your consultation and performs your surgery himself.

Our doctor’s promise

We choose your materials before surgery and explain them

At your consultation, Dr. Cho chooses the materials based on your nose and the shape you want, and explains why. If something unexpected is found during surgery, he tells you about it himself afterward.

We never use a material we have not proposed to you without your consent.

After surgery, we walk you through each step, showing you video and photos taken during the operation.

FAQ

Common questions about Nose Elevation

  • It depends on your nose and skin. For the bridge, we use a silicone or Gore-Tex implant or your own rib cartilage. For the tip, we use septal, ear or rib cartilage. Dr. Cho examines your nose at your consultation and makes a recommendation. We never use a material without explaining it to you and getting your consent.

  • Yes. It can be raised with your own tissue, such as septal cartilage, ear cartilage or your own rib cartilage. See our Non-Implant Rhinoplasty page for details.

  • If only your bridge is low, the surgery can sometimes be done with a closed technique, which leaves less noticeable scars. The technique depends on your nose, so we explain at your consultation.

  • Surgery takes about 1 hour under sedation, with no hospital stay. Stitches come out after 4–6 days, and recovery takes about 7 days. Plan to stay about a week.

  • It depends on your nose and the materials used. Send three photos of your face — front, side and 45° — on WhatsApp (+82 10-9608-0042), along with your surgical history. We will give you an estimate, and we can also go over it in an online consultation.

  • Nose surgery performed by Dr. Cho is covered by our Rhinoplasty Revision Policy. If a revision (touch-up surgery) is needed within 1 year of surgery, we perform one revision at no surgical fee. The sedation fee is charged separately.
