Can you raise just the bridge?

Yes. Nose bridge surgery raises a low bridge by grafting an implant, your own tissue or similar material. If you also want more height at the tip, it can be combined with tip surgery.

How do you decide how high my bridge should be?

We look at the shape of your nose and the balance of your face. We also check the angle between your tip and forehead, then suggest a height that suits your face.

Can a dorsal hump be corrected at the same time?

Yes. We shave down the bump and place a silicone implant shaped to match the shaved angle to smooth the bridge. We keep the height of the area between your brows and your tip in balance. See our Dorsal Hump Reduction page for details.

Do I need to stay in the hospital?

No hospital stay is needed. Surgery takes under 1 hour with sedation, and you can go back to where you are staying the same day. Recovery takes about 7 days.

If you like the shape of your tip but feel your bridge is too low, this surgery may suit you. We raise the bridge by grafting an implant or your own tissue.

We decide the height of your bridge based on the shape of your nose and the balance of your face. It can be done with a closed technique through the inside of the nostrils, so scars are less noticeable.

What is nose bridge surgery?

Nose bridge surgery raises a low bridge by grafting an implant, your own tissue or similar material.

We choose the height of the implant based on the shape of your nose and the balance of your face. If you also want more height at the tip, we may add tip augmentation or a support structure for the tip.

Because we work through the inside of the nostrils (a closed technique), scars are less noticeable.

After your surgery

Please keep the following in mind after surgery.

The tape comes off 3 days after surgery.
For the first week after surgery, apply cold packs often.
If you bruise, apply a warm towel from 1 week after surgery. Better circulation helps swelling and bruising fade.
Keep water off the surgical area until your stitches are out. To wash your face, wipe it with a damp towel, avoiding the surgical area.
You can go back to your usual face washing and makeup the day after your stitches come out.
Avoid wearing glasses for 4 weeks after surgery.
For about 6 weeks, while the implant or cartilage settles, avoid any impact or pressure around your nose. Do not sleep on your side or front.
Avoid alcohol and smoking for 1 month to help prevent inflammation.

Risks and side effects

Results and recovery vary from person to person. The main risks and side effects are:

Swelling and bruising after surgery
Infection or inflammation
Asymmetry, or a result that differs from what you pictured
An implant shifting, showing through or becoming exposed (when an implant is used)
Pain or a scar where rib cartilage was taken (when rib cartilage is used)
Contracture (tissue hardens and the nose shrinks)

A dorsal hump, where the bridge bulges partway down, is shaved down to smooth it. In the diagrams, the pink line shows your current bridge and the dotted gray line shows the target line.

The height of the area between the brows can be sorted into three levels: high, middle and low. People at the low level rarely have a dorsal hump.
A large hump also affects how your face looks from the front. So the surgery needs to balance the height of the area between your brows with the height of your tip, and the angle between them.
We shave down the bump and place a silicone implant shaped to match the shaved angle, for a clean, smooth bridge.
