Bulbous Nose Correction
A round, wide tip refined into a slimmer shape
A round, large tip can make your whole nose look wide. What causes a bulbous nose differs from person to person, from the shape of the cartilage to the thickness of the skin and fat.
At KOKO Plastic Surgery, we identify the cause through accurate diagnosis. We then refine your nose, considering both the tip and the nostril wings. Results vary from person to person.

Who it is for
- Your tip is large and very round
- Your bridge is wide and your tip is flat
- The skin and fat on your nose are thick
- Your nostril wings flare out to the sides
What is a bulbous nose?
A bulbous nose has a round, large tip that makes the whole nose look wide. There are three main causes:
- The tip cartilage is large and the skin is thin
- The skin and soft tissue (fat and fibrous tissue) are thick
- The tip cartilage has not fully developed and has lost its shape
How the surgery is done
The technique for a bulbous nose depends on the shape of your nose and the cause. We take time to consult with you before surgery and plan the approach that suits you.
We look at the width of the nostril wings as well as the tip, and refine the nose as a whole.
Risks and side effects
Results and recovery vary from person to person. The main risks and side effects are:
- Swelling and bruising after surgery
- Infection or inflammation
- Asymmetry, or a result that differs from what you pictured
- An implant shifting, showing through or becoming exposed (when an implant is used)
- Pain or a scar where rib cartilage was taken (when rib cartilage is used)
- Contracture (tissue hardens and the nose shrinks)
If anything concerns you, you can still reach us on WhatsApp after you fly home.
Techniques by concern
The tip and nostril wings, each shaped to suit you
In the diagrams, the pink line shows a bulbous nose and the dotted gray line shows the target line.
Tip surgery
When the tip is round
We shape the tip by drawing its cartilage together or trimming it, creating a tip with more projection.
Nose Tip Surgery-
When the skin and fat on the tip are thick
We remove the thick tissue under the skin of the tip to slim it down.
Nostril wing surgery
-
When the nostril wings are wide
Along with tip surgery, we remove some skin from the nostril wings to narrow them where they flare out.
