KOKO Thread Lift
Refining your face line with dissolving threads, no incision
A thread lift places dissolving threads under the skin to refine the face line without an incision. Along with lifting, it also aims to improve skin elasticity and tone.
At KOKO Plastic Surgery, we design the treatment around your face shape and treat only the points where sagging bothers you. We value a natural result that does not look done.
- Treatment time
- About 30 minutes
- Anesthesia
- Sedation or local anesthesia
- Hospital stay
- Not needed
- Stitch removal
- Not needed
- Recovery
- Back to daily life right away
Who it is for
- Your skin has lost elasticity
- Your jawline has sagged and blurred, making your face look bigger
- You want a natural lift
- You would rather not have implants placed under your skin
- You want to notice a change soon after treatment
- You want to add a sense of volume in a short treatment
What is a thread lift?
It is a lift that aims for a cleaner face line without surgery. Beyond lifting, it can also help improve skin elasticity and tone.
Dissolving threads (PDO) approved by Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety are placed in the dermis. The threads are said to stimulate collagen production, which can help with skin elasticity and a slimmer face line.
What matters in the KOKO thread lift
We design around your face shape and treat in three dimensions to match what you want.
- We choose only the points where sagging bothers you and refine them naturally and smoothly.
- It is done with no incision, or a minimal one.
- A change is easy to notice right after treatment, and you can go straight back to daily life.
- Because the threads dissolve, aftercare is less of a burden.
For a lift done through an incision, see our Face Lift page.
About the threads we use (PDO)
PDO (polydioxanone) is a special medical suture approved as a Class 4 medical device by Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. We use threads about 0.12 mm thick, finer than a hair.
Once in the skin, PDO dissolves gradually over 6–9 months. As it dissolves, collagen production is encouraged, so changes in skin elasticity and tone also become easier to notice over time.
For thread lifts and wrinkle treatments, it is important to be treated by an experienced specialist using genuine materials.
Risks and side effects
Results and recovery vary from person to person. The main risks and side effects are:
- Swelling and bruising after surgery or treatment
- Infection or inflammation
- Asymmetry, or a result that differs from what you pictured
- Scarring (when an incision is made)
- Numbness or changes in sensation (often temporary)

Types of thread
We choose the thread to suit your skin and sagging
These are the two types of thread we use for lifting. We decide which suits you after checking your skin at your consultation.
Threads for lifting
-
Tornado thread (screw-type thread)
A dissolving thread twisted into a screw shape. It aims for more lifting power and a longer effect than conventional dissolving threads. Knots act as anchors to lift the thread, and the twist covers a wide area of skin, so it moves well with your expressions.
It is a special thread made from collagen components, and the barbs around it make tiny wounds in the tissue. As those wounds heal, many growth factors are said to be produced, which can help restore skin elasticity.
As the thread dissolves, wrinkles can become less noticeable and the skin can look brighter. With no incision, bruising and scars tend to be hard to notice, and recovery is quick.
-
Omega thread (Omega V lifting)
This method uses dissolving threads with special barbs. It keeps incisions minimal and takes a short time. You can return to daily life right after treatment.
A special barbed thread, approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as a Class 4 medical device, is placed in the subcutaneous layer of sagging skin. It is then pulled in the direction you want.
Skin naturally tries to heal itself when it is injured. The thread’s stimulation triggers this, and it is said to encourage collagen and elastin production in the dermis. At the same time, the barbs lift the sagging.
A surgical lift with a scalpel gives a bigger change, but recovery takes longer and scars can remain. A laser lift is less likely to leave scars, but the change is modest.
Omega V lifting aims for a bigger change than a laser, while keeping the burden of scarring low.
A change is easy to notice right after treatment, and it aims for an effect that lasts 24 months or more. How long it lasts varies from person to person.

FAQ
Common questions about Thread Lift
-
The PDO threads we use dissolve gradually in the skin over 6–9 months. As they dissolve, collagen production is encouraged.
-
Omega V lifting aims for an effect that lasts 24 months or more. It varies with your skin and how much sagging you have.

A thread lift uses no incision or a minimal one, so you can return to daily life right after treatment. If aging has progressed too far for threads to help, a face lift may suit you better. It lifts the skin and muscle layer through an incision.

Treatment takes about 30 minutes, with no hospital stay or stitch removal. You can go straight back to daily life, so it fits a short stay. A medical interpreter joins your consultation at the clinic.
