Mesh Lifting
Lifting sagging cheeks and jaw with a mesh
This lifting surgery places a net-like mesh with good elasticity and stretch to lift sagging naturally. It is done through an incision of about 1 cm behind the ear.
It suits people who saw little improvement from standard lifting, or who were not satisfied with a thread lift alone. We also recommend it for sagging and deep wrinkles in middle age and later, or if your jawline bothers you.
- Surgery time
- 1–1.5 hours
- Anesthesia
- Sedation or local anesthesia
- Hospital stay
- Not needed
- Stitch removal
- After 4–5 days
- Recovery
- 2–3 days
Who it is for
- The flesh along your jaw has started to droop
- Sagging cheeks make you look older
- You want a clean V-line
- You want to improve wrinkles around your mouth
- You want your face to look smaller
- A thread lift alone did not satisfy you
How the surgery is done
It is done in two stages: surgery to place the mesh, and a lifting step once the mesh has settled.
- An incision of about 1 cm is made along the crease behind the ear, where it is hard to see.
- A mesh 0.64 mm thick (Bandlift®) is placed.
- 3–4 weeks after the first surgery, once the mesh has bonded to the tissue, it is pulled to smooth wrinkles and shape the face line.
Features of mesh lifting
Unlike a thread lift with dissolving threads, the mesh gives support, so the effect tends to last longer.
- The surgery can be done under local anesthesia.
- Swelling and bruising tend to be mild, so it is easier to get back to daily life sooner.
- The incision is about 1 cm behind the ear, where it is hard to notice.
How long the effect lasts and how much swelling you have vary from person to person.
About the mesh we use (RPM)
RPM (Rhytidectomy Plasty Mesh) is a surgical mesh approved by Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. It also holds a patent related to the surgery.
- Unlike other meshes, its edges are finished in loops. This makes it less likely to poke out or be felt from outside.
- If you wish, it can be removed later.
Risks and side effects
Results and recovery vary from person to person. The main risks and side effects are:
- Swelling and bruising after surgery or treatment
- Infection or inflammation
- Asymmetry, or a result that differs from what you pictured
- Scarring (when an incision is made)
- Numbness or changes in sensation (often temporary)
