What is short nose correction?
When the nose is short and upturned, exposing the nostrils, it is also referred to as a pig nose. Transforming a short nose into a longer, sleeker line is extremely challenging.
Short noses can be due to genetic factors, but they can also result from frequent nasal surgeries. In such cases, they are prone to contracture.
Surgical Methods for Short Noses
Surgical procedures for short noses aim to create a beautiful and refined nose while considering the facial contours and nasal angles.
The angle between the nasal bridge and the upper lip ideally ranges from 90 to 100 degrees, and the angle from the forehead to the tip of the nose should ideally fall between 115 and 130 degrees for optimal balance. From the frontal view, the length of the nose should ideally be one-third of the overall facial length for balanced proportions.
To lengthen a short nose, proven-safe materials like silicone or Gore-Tex may be used. Depending on the individual’s nasal condition, autologous rib cartilage may also be employed. The nasal tip is sculpted using ear cartilage or rib cartilage to achieve a natural appearance.
