KOKO Plastic Surgery Specializing in Korean Nose Surgery & Revision Surgery.
Hello! We are a specialized rhinoplasty hospital aiming to perform safe surgeries with 22 years of accident-free procedures.
Hello, this is Cho Bae-jeong, the director of KOKO Plastic Surgery. Through this post, I would like to answer the questions that people ask a lot,
“Is it okay to have rhinoplasty even if one is older?”
A while ago, I received a consultation from a man in his 70s who wanted to undergo revision surgery on his nose.
Recently, people in their 50s to 70s are visiting hospitals for rhinoplasty. I would like to support the courage of those who decided to undergo nose surgery, which is said to be difficult in this 100-year lifespan era.
To be honest, if the surgery takes a long time, you will have to undergo rhinoplasty. But for older patients, the surgery itself is often complicated and troublesome.
In addition, many patients have problems with surgeries they underwent long ago. There were many patients who previously underwent rhinoplasty using illegal drugs, resulting in a distorted and stiff nose. If the surgery does not go well, one must go to the hospital as soon as possible!
When preparing older patients for surgery, we try to minimize the use of costal cartilage. At the same time, when necessary, we will use them. However, we do not recommend it to people in their 70s, and we tell them it’s okay to use chest cartilage if in their 60s.
In fact, there are many cases of asymmetry that cannot be seen from the outside during surgery. Honestly, I get worried when I meet someone with an asymmetrical nose, but I do my best to treat the cause of it.
It is natural for asymmetry because the left and right cartilages are different. This is unavoidable especially when undergoing rhinoplasty. Correcting the asymmetry takes a long time and the longer surgical time means higher risk of inflammation. However, KOKO Plastic Surgery always does its best to ensure a successful surgery.
To accurately determine whether rhinoplasty or revision surgery is possible for people in their 50s to 70s, please consult with me. As head director of KOKO Plastic Surgery, I will provide you with a kind and thorough explanation.
That is it from Cho Bae-Jeong from KOKO Plastic Surgery.
